Ongoing Programmes

Healing Mass
FIRST TUESDAY EVENINGS (7:00 pm) MARCH-OCTOBER

Freewill offering to support the work of the Priory

The Healing Mass at the Carmelite Priory is set within the context of our broken world and belief in God’s promise of abundant life. Together with the laying on of hands and anointing, these evenings are times set apart for us to experience and receive God’s gifts of wholeness and peace – for ourselves, for those we are concerned for, and for the world.

Contemplative Eucharist
THIRD TUESDAY EVENINGS (7:00 pm) MARCH-OCTOBER

Freewill offering to support the work of the Priory

The Contemplative Eucharist at the Carmelite Priory is an opportune time to contemplate and enter into a deeper awareness of God’s presence and love in the Eucharist. Contemplation is an ancient form of prayer, often called the ‘prayer of the heart’. Through the use of incense and candles, meditative music and times of silence, the mind and the senses are awakened to a prayerful listening and reflection on the Scriptures, as well as a contemplative awareness to the Christ who is Immanu-El (God with us) in the Eucharist and who comes to us that we may have life and have it to the full.

Cherith Days (Quiet Days)

MAR 6, 20; APR 3, 17; MAY 1, 15; JUN 5, 19; JUL 3, 17; AUG 7, 21; SEP 4, 18; OCT 2, 16

‘So Elijah did what the Lord had told him. He went to the brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.’ Cherith Days at the Carmelite Priory are Quiet Days when, like Elijah, we hear the divine invitation to come to the ‘brook of Cherith’ – a place of rest and refreshment – so as to slow down, to reflect on the Scriptures, and to experience silence and stillness in the beauty and peace of the Priory grounds. Cherith Days are non-residential.  However, anyone who wishes to take part while resident at the Priory is welcome. Please register your attendance in advance with the Retreat Centre.

Lectio Divina
EVERY THURSDAY (7:00-8:00 pm) MARCH-OCTOBER

Freewill offering to support the work of the Priory

Looking for a deeper experience of listening to God’s word? Try our new Lectio Divina Group. Lectio Divina, or ‘Sacred Reading’, is a group form of praying with the Scriptures. All one needs is a prayerful desire to know God through God’s word as it speaks to the group. The structured process of Lectio Divina helps the group to enter deeply into God’s word with the hope of finding applications of its meaning to life. The group will pray with the gospel of Mark, the gospel of initiation into the mystical life.

Dream Group
FIRST AND THIRD FRIDAYS (7:00-8:30 pm) FEBRUARY-OCTOBER
